Here are MP3 samples of some of the different pre-amps. These are all quick and dirty recordings with no effects, no editing (even of my sloppy playing), no compression, no EQ. and external noise varying from barely discernible to noticeable. Sorry folks. It’ll get better during the winter when lawns are under a blanket of snow. As I record and re-record in some cases (leaf blower down the street messing with my low frequency response) I’ll set any on-board EQs to flat. Initially I’m recording acoustic guitar and voice. As I can, I’ll record drum tracks, electric guitar, bass, etc. In most of these first examples I’ve recorded the same couple of choruses of “Beale St. Blues” so there is some consistency.
Well, after a couple of years went by I decided to add some, this time doing snippets of Sixteen Tons.” Both of these new ones use the same configuration as the older ones. That is, one KM84 around the 14th fret and a U87 on vocal.

This was recorded with two Neumann KM84 mics; one at 12th fret; one 3″ from lower bout and a Neumann U87 on vocal.
Recorded as above. Neumann U87 on vocal.
Once again, this was recorded with two Neumann KM84 mics; one at 12th fret; one 3″ from lower bout and a Neumann U87 on vocal.
Neumann KM84 at 12th fret and 3″ from lower bout. Neumann U87 on vocal.
Same mic applications as above.
Neumann KM84 at 12th fret and 3″ from lower bout. Neumann U87 on vocal.
Mics arranged as above.
On this one I used the above arrangement of KM84s and a U87, but I added a dobro part recorded with one of the KM84s about 3″ from bottom of the main resonator.
Back to the standard configuration of KM84s and U87.
